This year Lockwood graced us with their offering on the Drey line for 2013. And if you ask me, this line renewed my interests.
By Jin Lovelace.
To my admittance, I was done with the Drey line from Lockwood. As I remembered from their teaser video featured from their old Showcase public space, it was an enticing trailer to behold. From what I could comprehend, it was something that would inspire the fashionable minds, giving us something bold and brand new.
I was anticipating this release.
In contrast, the first release--Muse collection--was a fashionable start on how Lockwood's line of apparel just weren't focused on micro Mini-Skirts and glowing Corsets. Many complained about the developer's choice of fashion designs and I believe with Drey, it was the answer to the call.
Each release, the styles ventured off into some amazing, cute styles that anyone could get into, of which this line is highly known for a trend that started it all: Handbags. Diverse in every way and something I don't leave out of my wardrobe without, the items were something that I was swoon over and added a lot of character to many of the outfit designs I've created. But even then, Drey's accessories were definitely something to look forward to for each release.
Not just that, but the fashion line has also dipped into the creative pool to bring us some of the most stylish Hats to come out of Lockwood's vault on Home; a commodity that has been highly panned by the users due to aesthetic appeal and on how one wishes to retain their original hairstyles. Here, Lockwood goes slightly above the call to create some hairstyles that would compliment the Hat and your desired outfit.
All seem too good to be good until their release of the Bonita Bolero collection which, in my honest opinion, dropped the ball in a way on style. Not only the Bolero Jackets weren't appealing fashion-wise, but the styles overall just didn't really sit well. Granted, the Silhouette Skirts were pretty remarkable after playing with several different tops to combine and some sassy new colors introduced to your wardrobe, overall this was--nonetheless--a forgettable release.

Overtime (and with the exception of the Pop Princess release), the season-themed gimmick was what kept me away from the series as the fashion flair was losing its luster and appeal, let alone the main point to the name: inspired to inspire. Though I didn't laud the Bonita Bolero line, Drey's Kaleidoscope Color collection--again with unique colors--was by far the worst fashion release from the line, notably due to the poorly designed pants and overall outfit design, including the Shoes and Earrings.
But after the Seaside Siren release, I felt that it was time for Lockwood to go back into the vault and rethink on how to add back the sensation the name "Drey" used to be upon their first release. I've always kept an open mind to this line's fashions and style and while I'm the owner of all Drey (minus the two aforementioned collections), most of the items were just a trend at the time and not easily accessible; another issue that most would have with some of these items from this line. Granted, I'm not the one to complain at all but this has been an issue.
Now in 2013 and after the release of their first Super Model Poses from the name brand, along with the furniture that everyone purely enjoys, the most recent fashion release from this line would be the Noir collection featuring the Femme Fatale and Fashion Hunter bundles; both that are slightly daring, yet dazzling and something that has brought innovation and new to the line.
This has definitely reinvigorated my interest for this line again.
Much to chagrin, so has the newest release of the Starlet and Sweetheart collections.

| The Sweetheart Hairstyle |
The Vintage Plunge Top and Peplum Pencil Skirt combo is a welcoming addition to any wardrobe that inspires brilliant detailing and a vintage look that retains an overall sultry appeal. Together as an "off the rack" design, the outfit is beautiful and fits for specific party occasions. For the fashionistas in mind, we've seen some interesting combinations with the Plunge Top around Home and is definitely something I wish to play around with more. The Pencil Skirt is rather fun to use, provided that if you have the right blouse that doesn't "bleed" through said skirt.

| Vanity Case |
For the accessories, I was pretty impressed. The Pale Pink Vanity Case only works for upbeat, vintage styles such as this. Limited as it maybe however, but the Case is truly superb.
The Sweetheart Collar - Blue item will definitely be a challenge to use. It's not like there isn't any items on Home that would call for something like this. It isn't to say this is a bad item to not have on hand, however. In fact, this is a well-crafted item that I would love to see more color variations of from this line, if not from just the regular line overall. :)
The Blue Platform Sandals was something I wasn't attached to. They felt estranged to me when it comes to Lockwood's overall quality of Shoes and these Sandals didn't urge me to pair them with other outfit designs. Of course, there maybe some fashions that would call for them, but the design didn't grab too much attention to me at all.
Starlet Bundle
Mega Bundle: $2.99
All items: $0.99
There's a dilemma to this bundle here. The Starlet is quite possibly the most gorgeously designed apparel in the entire Drey line. Featuring a shimmering motif with a Hollywood-style presence, this outfit commanded my attention. The Starlet Hairstyle is sassy and bold which drew me in a bit, with an interesting curls design that really heightens the attitude more than what I imagined.
The Starlet Stole - Gray item is yet another new item to the Drey line. Instead of giving us another Handbag, Lockwood tapped into it's "timeless" style and forego the commodity in favor of a very well-designed Stole that compliments this ravishing look, along with the hairstyle. Warn you, however, that you can't wear this item with anything; if you create an outfit that's too simple and don the Stole, you will purvey a lack-luster design that'll come off too forced. Patience and observance is key to using the item properly.
The dilemma comes to fray when I was introduced to the Starlet Skirt - Midnight Blue item. Granted, this color is magnificent and I wish there were more items out with this color, but the reason of my aforementioned statement is simply due to the Skirt's design. Granted, I've seen a few who would make use of the item with some exceptional tops, but it didn't strike me as "dazzling" at all, nor did it pop. To put it more bluntly, this Skirt is hugely inaccessible if you desire to wear it with any top on Home. In fact, no other blouse, shirt, or even a Bikini Top could really make this item stand out, and this is something that I dislike so much because the apparel looks so good to not ever use it.
Drey's Spiked Heel Sandals - Black is simple, clean and superbly designed you can wear with any outfit. It pairs well with this outfit here and can definitely pair well with any casual fit of your liking.
Though pictured, the Blue Banner Earrings are very good to pair with either of these outfits. :)
Aviator Bundle
Male Apparel
Bundle: $2.99
All items: $0.99
For the male avatars, I found these items to be of clarity to your wardrobe. The Aviator design is a retro edge style with a clean-cut finish. As basic as that sounds, overall this is definitely worthy of a purchase. The Aviator Hairstyle is something I don't see on Home these days and maybe something I wouldn't really fit my male avatar with on a normal basis until now. Very charming, classic look that blends in with a nice Blazer and a pair of Billabong Jeans that's as chic as the hairstyle itself.
The Aviator Jacket - Brown adds a nice weight appeal to any design you can concoct. For the Pants, the Jacket compliments them pretty well but if you wish to use those said Pants for anything else outside a relaxing style, there's no attachment to them for me.
Marina Mariner Bundle
Mega Bundle: $2.99
All items: $0.99
This bundle has definitely won me over for the sheer smooth, suave appeal these items radiates. The Marina Mariner has such a Love Boat feel that is so retro, it had me swooning for a good while. Just look at how mesmerizing the avatar is!
The hairstyle really added a debonair appeal to the overall outfit design so much that you wouldn't be wrong to just wear the entire thing off the rack. The Boating Jacket - Navy is a sharp, crisp Jacket that you can wear anytime on any occasion, and it calls for a good pair of white Trousers to seal the look. If you must know, I really had an excellent time walking around in this gorgeous outfit; I really recommend this for anyone with a clear conscious that desires a bold look.
Lockwood has brought back the spark with the Drey line and added attitude with a dash of smooth, sultry, and suave to create a bold new take on creativity. While a couple of the items aren't really accessible, the key is challenge. I was afraid that the line would just become a stalemate but Lockwood assured us all that Drey is definitely bold and dazzling; for all to inspire to be inspired.
