Hed Kandi: a Social Experience

An animated phenomena is on the north American shores of Home simply known as the Hed Kandi dance. Here's an exclusive piece on my social experience in the EU servers of its origins and my thoughts on it.

By Jin Lovelace.

Okay maybe I'm not the only to observe this but over the recent months a new animated phenomena has now found its way over the American shores. I never knew of the commodity's existence until my time in the Hub. It was there where I encountered a user who were dancing in a sultry manner, as though she were at a dance club. It wasn't provocative, neither any of the dance animations that nDreams released. Rather, it was an item which was given to the users who would enter through an entrance portal in Central Plaza in the European servers of Playstation Home. Through the exploitation of the infamous ISE hack (an exploit which users gain free items from every regional server of Home), many users found themselves obtaining the Headphones which enables you to just dance the night (or day) away.

Many have pondered how they could obtain this "super awesome cool" item, and many were reluctant to expound on this feat but given overtime, the inquirers found their way to ISE freedom and joining in on the trend that's sweeping the dance floors.

All this and more and I'm just the one to stick out like a sore thumb when I ask: what the fuss is about?

From my personal perspective, I honestly don't see the big deal. At first, so many people were inquiring on the item and if they weren't able to gain access to the item (or in this case, refuse to exploit their way to obtaining them, then it's complaints upon how the north American region servers don't have "cool items" like that. From that point, a simple swift haymaker freshly connecting to their chins comes to mind, putting me at ease and comfort.

Again, that's just from a personal point of view.

Realistically, curiosity came creeping in on the origins of the dance itself, let alone the name "Hed Kandi". My fashion wishlist article spoke a bit about the namesake, which is a record label that distributes incredible Nu Music that can be heard at several of Clubs and Beach parties. They also specialize in a wide-range of apparel that'll knock your socks off.

I asked a few that possessed this now-common commodity if they knew of its origins, in response that none knew of its existence outside of Home.

However, I've never heard of such a party space existed inside of the community.

With a word of mouth and a save from a friend, I donned something fashionable from my wardrobe and proceed to traverse into this party scene with favorable colors just dazzling over the area, and a working tele-tron featuring a musical montage of Hed Kandi's festive tours.

The space itself can only be accessed if you (or a friend of yours) only have it saved in your favorites, of which it's only available over in the European Home servers. I never expected such a lively space to be packed full of users enjoying themselves and actually socializing. The music was sensational and if I hadn't snapped myself back to, I would've stayed there for another, what.....two hours? What was so magical about the Hed Kandi space was the social atmosphere. The presentation was astoundingly wonderful, every level of detail was rich and colorful, and even obtaining the Hed Kandi costume (which looks identical to their signature artwork) had its charm. I personally was going beyond the experience and really was having a great time, without the great fuss over "pervs" and the immature alike.

And dare I say again, the music was blissful to my ears.

So I beg to wonder: why isn't something like this over in the north American servers?

I mean sure, we have such dance Clubs like the Moto-Storm, x7 Club and Singstar public spaces, which are neat in itself even to this day. Though I'm not quite clear as to why the music in Moto-Storm was cut only to preview clips of the respective artist songs, you can only tolerate the short 20-30 second music clips until it just starts rattling your brain. To me, if I were to experience a night out at a Club (or a Lounge), the most important element of which on how you draw your customers is the music! No offense whatsoever, but I seriously don't like listening to a 15 second clip of Pendilum's "Taranula" over and over....and over.

The same that can be said for the Singstar Space. I thoroughly enjoyed its VIP section until it was dismissed, which was a serious let down but a slight gain when they swapped the generic rinky-dink music in favor of the slight tolerable variant that was looping in the VIP room. Even so, the experience there has dwindled with no life jolting through the impressive light-up dance floors. Even the tele-tron there lacks the music videos that were featured in the namesake's game, which at least you could change what songs you want to listen to, though just for only a mere 30 seconds.  The social experience isn't something I rather not open in this article (yes, it's that horrid).

But given how many have wondered on how certain cool items are never released here and there, I would dismiss them due to just how happy I am with most of the content released. Hey, if I desire it on any of my other accounts I can just simply buy them. But given that this is a great party atmosphere which is as fun as Konami Penthouse, I'm kind of bummed out on the little to no explanation given as to why this experience couldn't be shared on NA or even Japan servers.

And it's such a shame because the pictures purveyed in this article just doesn't show how much fun I was having there. Whether or not if the Hed Kandi were to be distributed over to the NA Home community the social aspects would change mainly due to the consumer themselves desiring this so. However, one can just think the possibilities of how many would greatly receive this great atmospheric realm if the chance is given, if not something similar to it.

But I suppose only time will tell, hm? What's bummer is that as of this article, there will be yet another Hed Kandi event in European Home community, to which our ears can listen to the exquisite sounds of "Welcome to my World" and the amazing "Dance Revolution", which can be heard in Pier park, Sports Walk, and the Hub with its hearing inducing goodness.

And here many have thought that Chain Swing was just the worst.
