Fashionista by Konami

Konami released a new line of clothing titled "Fashionista". If you're looking for something stylish, classy and on a budget, read on.

By Jin Lovelace; Founder, Writer, Fashionist.

Many times I've stated that Konami should attempt to release commodity inspired from real-world fashions. Highly known for their custom-animated Costumes, their Gothic fashion line, and a bevy of my fondest childhood experiences as a gamer, curiosity came to mind on how these items would come about.

When you take a look at the aesthetics of the aforementioned fashion line on Home, it truly brought some definition to the spectrum. Before, you were only limited to creating some styles inspired from the genre, lacking the exact general items to complete the motif. Not that it's a type of negative really; you had to wonder when there would be accurate items of its kind to ever drop on Home. With that, I tip my hats to Konami for bringing such vibrant, stellar styles for all to express.

This new brand, however, is something that just came right of the left field and bashed me right on me forehead!

Let me first say that I'm thrilled for this release. In fact, call it "hype" if you will because I literally lost my Bacon and Egg sandwich due to the excitement of the line. Rest in peace, my delicacy.

Meanwhile....

The Fashionista line from Konami has set a varietal tone on how you combine items on Home. You have five sets--two types of tops and three types of dresses--that I will breakdown for all to view. To its merit, the commodity are cheap but worth every penny.

Morning Glory

Price: $0.99 per-gown

Available Colors: Floral, Pink, Black, and Blue with White Dots.

Pink

For this set, we're greeted with the Morning Glory Halter. This dress style consists of a signature-style ribbon laced around the back and the neck to allude the common factor of a spring dress. This style of dress is almost uncommon in the fashion world and a sheer brilliance to Home. The color choices are very effective for this style and doesn't appear to be common on how it's expressed. What I love about these gowns are the optional accessories you can play with. Why so much, Lockwood's own line of Stilettos and Peep Toe Heels work essentially for these. For instance, I find my pink and black Peep Toes to really work with this dress here to offset the match but to create a subtle balance to the overall appeal.

Black

The same goes for this color here. The solid colors of the Morning Glory halter dresses really beckons for your attention when it comes to the type of accessories you desire to use. The pattern choices are riveting to their merit, creating a challenge on the said accessories you can match.

Though these dresses are superbly designed and has this high fashion statement,  be advised that some of the poses you use will give an outstanding awkward appeal, for instance the Drey Supermodel poses and more importantly anything that crosses your legs. The Wistful pose, one of my favorite poses of the set (Educated being my top fav), drew a river of tears on my face.

Quite simply, however, this set is magnificent on the eyes and calls for a celebratory occasional breakout should you desire for a stylish flair to dazzle the eyes at the party.

Unituber

Price: $0.99

Available Colors: Pink, Cherries, Black, and Zebra

Featured Model: RiffRaff-Se7en

With RiffRaff-Se7en featuring the Cherries Unituber Dress

The Unituber is a elegant style dress that tapers your body to pronounce several definitions that you couldn't imagine. The style is a warm welcome to my fitting wardrobe, along with a plethora of dresses that I have, but this style choice is superb. It's a cross of sensual and sexy, but not over-the-top or heavily exaggerated, leaving enough for the imagination. The four color choices are easy on the eyes, much to chagrin the Cherries option really entices the eyes more.

My natural take on the Unitubers are purely subtle to the core; I like to flaunt the legs and the arms and not bog it down heavily with accessories. I believe when you feature such commodity versus the intent of the dress actually draws away the overall appeal and martyrs the purposes. For example, those thigh-high boots that you love to use with just about anything, doesn't fly so well with this. In fact, it's an extreme turn-off.

Once again, the strategy I see here with this set are two solid colors and two pattern color choices. For me, I adore the solid color options. The warm pink color definitely brings out the attention to your anatomy. However, black was really the most fun i had with when calls for accessorizing. Something as subtle as Drey's Clutch Bow Purse conveyed more style appeal than the average matching of reds and blacks. Though the former color would work, going incognito with black items for this would appear too depressing for my eyes to take.

In fact, the aforementioned former color could work more with this pattern option here.

Zebra

Now of all colors, I didn't catch on the Zebra pattern so well because I personally feel there are other color options to choose from rather than this. But there is so much fun to be had with this option, mainly with certain colors that could purvey some density to the presentation. For such instance, Red Stilettos and Red Fingernails hit the mark with me on how it captures the eyes of this fashionista. It is to note, however, though when I wear these styles I personally use shorter hairstyles to compliment the bare back and neck of the gowns. Though you can use longer hairstyles for certain tastes but for me, it's about the attractiveness of how you wear the styles, not the type of attention that you get.

Cosmopolitan Glamor

Price: $1.49-$1.99

Available Colors: White, Black, Gold, and Red.

This delicate set comes in four solid colors laced with decorative floral pattern deign with a sweet finish that highlights the elegant, ravishing dress. To be honest, I never thought I would own a dress like this on Home but the subtile feature here was really calling for my cash to be spent on this. An impression of "Soirees" come to mind on when and where you can wear these designs, and the course of limitations are called on accessorizing with this dress. My biggest recommendation is to try out the Paris Gloves (available in Threads for $0.25 in Black, White, or--if you're daring--Purple) with gowns. The Drey Fans work well to add more of an eloquent motif.

To talk more on the solid color foundation here, I find that the natural aspects to be pleasing. For the price point given and the detail found, this is something that you don't find often on Home and as so much in your wardrobe. It's brilliancy here lies on how the colors bring out the pattern lace in this dress. My only baffling moment is of the practice of every single gold colored commodity is priced $0.50 cents higher that the average of what's available. For this, I skipped over the gold dress due to lack of interests. I may visit that sometime or, perhaps if an article calls for it.

This set, overall, is definitely intrigues my taste. :)

Punky Sweetheart

Price: $0.99

Available Colors: Leopard, Black, Plaid, and White

Featured Model: PureHeart55

For the final two sets in the Fashionista series, we explore some creativity and the fun factor of these tops. To start, the Punky Sweetheart collection is a versatile set of strapless blouse featuring a comberband belt detail with a bow finish for a sassy, yet diverse appeal. The Punky Sweetheart tops can be worn in a few creative ways that not even I would even approve upon first impression. This, of course, is a good thing. :)

Example here would be the Leopard Sweetheart top, which I used Drey's new Button Panel Skirt - Charcoal simply for length purposes to reveal the skirt motif of the designer outfit. The simple finish with this is the Clutch Purse to bring out the sassy, yet classy side with the wild pattern detail of the blouse.

For the white variant, I desired to try out some of the pants available in my wardrobe to bestow a flavor of attitude in a relaxed state of mind. Wrangler's Cary Jeans Stone Washed was something came out of an experiment with Konami's own Seductress hairstyle for an alluring look, straying away from the typical "sexy" motif that's overused with these tops. When it comes to the lighter colors, I tend to impart on warmer colors and to loosen up my outfit. When you try too hard to creative a certain motif for attention, the style really shows, which isn't something I don't recommend at all.

This natural look from PureHeart55 comes as an option on how you can wear this blouse as a dress. The flow of this style choice doesn't stem upon how "sexual" it looks, but how one can go au naturel.

The above statement holds slightly true to this inspired designer outfit for my Midnight Feast Catalog. To be honest, I felt a bit risque on this piece due to the Gothic nature of this top. The Gothic line from Konami have some plaid pants that doesn't combine so well effectively with the blouse, so I went to try on the Gothic Mini-Skirt and threw on the Paris Modern Boots and the Gothic Arm Warmers for a darker presentation that worked. Just on a personal note: this was the only time I broke out these Boots, for the aesthetics dwindled upon viewing how others would tarnish the value by combining outfits that're so dreadful, not even the English vocabulary couldn't keep up on my disdain impression for them.

Beach Baby

Price: $0.99

Available Colors: 60's, Rasta, White, and Floral.

White with Black Leggings, White Thigh High Boots, and Drey White Saddlebag.

The Beach Baby set is a collection of summer blouse with a pattern finish. This casual chemise shows creative colors effective design on the tops and how well it calls for imaginative color schemes upon your outfits. While the 60's and Rasta color patterns aren't shown (which I will visit next time), White and Floral were the two I took some time upon. My White Thigh High Boots were yet another experimental motif for myself and how risque I wanted this style to appear upbeat, yet casual. Let me say this right now: Codeglue's Leggings collection are full of fun to try on with these blouses.

For a versatile presentation, I used Diesel's new Grupee Jeans to accommodate the rich tone found in the Floral blouse and the color finish from it. The--*breathes deep*--Black babydool Stilettos with Red Satin Details and a Black Bow--*exhales*--I felt goes pretty well with the outfit, though I personally suggest some white Sandals or U Love Green's Beige Wedge Sandals for a laid-back style.

You can also use Shorts with the top for a subtile appearance, much to my delight I found the Sertu Shorts to be effective for my designer outfit here. What's more is that this style is a homage to my Mother who would wear this exact style back in the mid 90's. Her style and flair on her fashion drew so much attention at my school, with so many that would compliment her on the beauty brought forth from the style. That was the day when she came to pick me up and greeted to an outing at a local restaurant, only for it to be a surprise birthday party for me. It was so special to me at the time for my Mom to do this for me, and remembering this subtle style brought back some great memories of the time spent. She was beautiful then and is as glorious as ever now.

Overall

I find this set to be of great appeal and something I can't thank Konami enough for creating something much different than the awesome Sentai costumes and the Gothic apparel we all wear and love. There is so much diversity found within these items, it's great to have fun these days to come up with some fashionable designs for all to wear, love, and admire. However, the price tags for these really brings affordability to the table. This also really shows that cheap prices doesn't mean downgraded quality and this Fashionista brand does it justice.

Video Presentation

This presentation features RiffRaff-Se7en and Pureheart55 to bring a "back to fashion roots" motif for my brand. After the hustle and bustle behind my Espada Gothica 2 projects--following my Event afterwards with Home Life's Winter Fest 2013--it was great to steady focus on these fashions and go back to creating some great fashion designs for social purposes.

The music used were to create an upbeat and casual realm for this release, and to show my love for these awesome items.

Cheers!
