The Belle dis Moi fashion show was promised to be an event that you've never experienced on Playstation Home. Here, we present to you the styles that were featured in the show and a some thoughts behind the designs.
By Jin lovelace; TTi Founder.
Fashion shows have been a main draw for others to come and strut their designs and allow the audience or Judges to decide the winner(s) of the event. The best dressed are crowned with a prestigious prize (be it a $20 PSN Card or something from Lockwood's Gift Machine), which is a good way to get the one's interested. The rest of the contestants? Well they walk away with a pat on their backs and a simple "better luck next time".
Now granted, they're told a few words of encouragement which can find some shred of dignity from the lost endured, and deep down it makes sense at the time to just move on with your head held high to acknowledge said lost and absorb it as a learning experience; it's a tool to help grow in your creativity.
From my personal point of view, I felt that if you win anything, you simply move on to bigger obstacles, where arduous challenges awaits. Your strive and goals for this said challenge is that no matter how difficult it may be, don't give up. It's what you're taught to do, provided if you have such a positive perspective.
Deeply the case here, Belle dis Moi just wasn't a fashion show; it was an experience.
I like to create such experiences through fashion, creativity, and personality. It has been something I've done for the past 3 years of my time in this organization, and something that I greatly enjoy doing not just for anybody, but for myself. Granted, there have been plenty of bumps in the road which I'd traveled but once at the destination, such a jovial experience is to be had. The sheer labor of putting effort into something so monumental, yet rather anticipating, finally pays off when you're met with great praise for providing some refreshing, different, and intriguing to the table.
To sum up the aforementioned, this project was an interesting take on how I viewed Spring, more so of the inquiring theme "Would you wear it?" I found that not many items are used on Home due to user interest; many feel that less is better but never about character expression.
So what I had in mind was really simple: to turn what would have been "Lovelace Creations Vol. 2: Belle dis moi" video presentation into a fashion show where we get the Home community involved. Nevermind the Models like Ruby Princess whose name is shown more often in our TT videos, but to actually reach out to others on Home on items they personally feel they either can't combine or a negative perspective on said items. Put it to you this way; what you may thought that the item just won't work your way is something entirely different in my eyes. In laymen's term: I'm rejecting yoru reality and replacing it with my own ala delusions of grandeur.
So here's what been created for the show and my thoughts on the items that would purvey contemplation on your view of the commodity present.
Leather Aviator Jackets
Revisiting this line was completely fun because the challenge is that the colors and the patterns can turn just about anybody off. The sheer complexity of the motif alone were what drew me into the Jackets, which by then I felt I wanted to include them into the show.
In my humble opinion, I could wear the Leather Jackets anytime, any season mainly due to them being pretty casual. As such, I want to breakdown a bit on the designs here:
1. The Hornet design is, and have always, been my personal favorite from this line. The simplistic nature of the colors and a wonderful take on how to use the rarely seen color orange on Home was brilliant. For this, I thought the Rio Mio - Black skirt would really make the design stand out, especially if you're showing a bit of legs to compliment the overall appeal with the commodity.
2. The Bumblebee design was a an excuse to showcase one of Lockwood's older Glowing Sneakers. I felt it would compliment Billabong's Jovie Denims nicely to keep contrast with the lime green hue. The Natural hairstyle from U Love Green heightens the appeal to give a nice shade of "not overly done" to the design.
3. This came out as a surprise to me. The Bluebottle colors was designed with a white skirt in mind (much to chagrin, the use of the Tight Office Skirt from Granzella) but after a double take on the colors scheme laid out here , the Classic Mini Skirts came to mind and in an instant the Petal color quickly was donned, along with the Drey Large Color Block Handbag - Midnight Blue. If you were to notice the colors of the said bag, it was the exact inspiration that gave to this outfit alone. :)
Overall: if you don't any of these Jackets, now is a good time to try them out. They conform to the body nicely and they may inspire more legitimate outfit designs with the use of the right items to give much character to your avatar.
"Breezy"
This style came to mind once Drey's Sweetheart/Starlet Mega Bundles released. To avoid giving you a full review on the items, I'll just gab on about this design instead.
To put it to you simply, I love accessories on Home. Since the introduction of them, I felt that there always has to be something in my hands. Hats, on the other hand, have usually been shunted upon mostly because most believe it detracts from their chosen do of their own.
I disagree entirely on the concept.
The Hats featured here gave enough personality to call this outfit "Breezy". Though there are two different hairstyles used, I wanted to give each said personality to allow other to decide which would be better suited for them.
1. The Flick hairstyle was used to give a nice casual feel to the Sweetheart Dress and U Love Green's Cami.
2. A more "upscale" approach with emphasis on the Jewelry selection, along with the Sterling High High Heels. The Newlywed hairstyle adds to this definition.
3. Drey's Sun Hat with Wavy Hair was the sole reason of the chose name given. Not only to create a sense of depth, but to overall give a story behind it; walking down an upscale boulevard with a gust of wind clashing into you. The hairstyles above are a nice example to you losing your Hat in the wind.
Overall: I think this design was pretty fun to play with. It's not something you would see on a casual basis but definitely works for special occasions such as Wedding functions or a Dance Ball.
"Megan"
Megan was a treat to design but very complex; more complex than you think. I desired to introduce this design mostly because I believe Peakvox is greatly on to something when it comes to their fashions outputted.
In case you haven't traversed into their section of the store (located in the Costumes section), Peakvox--or "O-Two inc"--are best described as the second Granzella store for Home NA. They vary in a wide selection of oriental style costumes, accessories, and fashions.
For such example, the Leggings they have available are one of a kind on Home. if I were to simply say so, they are without a doubt the best Leggings and Shorts combo to ever have released. The amount of detail spent on the set is vastly superb, and they didn't skimp at all on the style. Though you have a selection to choose from, the level of complexity comes from not only of the array of items to combine with them but of the price: $1.49 per-item.
A big turn-off, I know.
But on the bright side, the price justifies the sheer amount of detail laced onto the apparel. If you're looking for quality shorts/legging combo then I highly suggest Peakvox's offerings. Very versatile and accessible, which is featured here.
The Megan outfit had a bit of "Old School" in mind to give it a more overtime statement. For instance:
1. Your standard flair of the design without a Hat or a head item in mind. The hairstyle used, the Retronaut - Z1726F, was to give it a more college school girl feel.
2. The Dizzy Rascal Tongue 'n Cheek Hat is one of my favorite Hat accessories for the female avatar on Home. Playful, feminine, and overall quality appeal. It matched the style perfectly to add a bit of an old school, 80's flavor.
3. The Biker Maiden hairstyle used here is to purvey a rebel option. It's one of the least seen hairstyles on Home and under-appreciated in my humble opinion.
Overall: this is just one of the many examples of the Leggings. If you wish for something diverse in your wardrobe, then look no further than Peakvox's Legging styles.
Midnight Feast
A catalog that I enjoy revisiting every now and then simply due to a lot of options and beauty with darker colors. For this design, I wanted to imply something bold a bit with the use of Konami's last release of the Gothic item, the Female Vinyl Jacket.
Though there only two hand options shown, the main draw to this design is the use of Diesel's P-Iodine and Boots. The leather trousers here were Diesel's first Pants offering on Home and works highly well with the Jacket in use. For a dramatic effect, Konami's Angel Wings - Black is sensational to use with this, and to have the options that it has and awe-inspiring appeal for such a small price point compared to other LMO items of its kind is just overwhelmingly astounding. I'll let you see for yourself on the retail price for the item.
Sadly however, the Pants are no longer available on Home (along with other Diesel wear) which resulted in me not featuring this style due to none of my Models ever having the trousers. :(
"Yulia"
What I had in mind here is more of a Russian motive. The Ladies' Coat by Peakvox is yet another item featured that is the best of its kind on Home with a complexity price point; expect to shell out $2.49 per-coat item. In history of Home, one had never thought of paying such an outlandish price for just a Winter Coat, right?
I beg to differ.
That statement is mostly due to the outrageous craftsmanship here. The Coat is worn over a seemingly comfortable cotton-knit Sweater with a cotton interior laid in the Hood of the apparel. The Coat is a very well-rounded item you can wear casually and fits like a dream. You can combine one of Peakvox's own Leggings, some nice Pants from Wrangler (featured here) or for a more business look, you could don a Rio Mio and be done with it.
The options shown here are my take on something old, something new with the head items.
1. The Envoy hairstyle furthers the Russian agenda and create a personality to the overall look.
2. The Head Wrap hairstyle can be purchased for free in the Threads store. It adds a hint of charm to the design and to match the colors on the Handbag nicely, if not loosely.
3. The Ushanka Hat, an item which is no longer available on Home, gave meaning to the name and is an item that not many are aware of on Home. It's a shame something this good has been rotated out due to possible lack of interests/sales.
Overall: though maybe seasonal, you might turn some heads with this design if worn in the right places. The $2.49 price tag is pretty hefty and isn't for the faint of heart, especially compared to other items that can give you more for the same price (you can buy a 4 piece fashion bundle for the same price from Granzella). But if you want something interesting in your wardrobe, I would say give the ladies' Coat a fair chance.
Here are some more designs that I used for the show. The final set are classy, yet professional concoctions for the mature minded. What I love best about these is that they give much meaning to your character and how the crowd approaches you. Strength and integrity is what I had in mind for these and of course with a hint of sensuality.
I hope you've enjoyed these wonderful creations and I look forward to producing a fashion presentation to this catalog. Some of my other designs haven't made it to the show due to time constraints and promoting purposes. But of course, it doesn't stop me from a nice video shoot now, does it? :)
